Coping with COVID-19
Student-to-Student Survey—Executive Summary
When Kentucky schools shut down due to coronavirus in the spring of 2020, we pivoted our school-level school climate work to design a relevant state-wide research study. We enlisted adult research partners from the University of Kentucky and McRel International to conceive the Coping with COVID Student-to-Student Survey. After receiving nearly 13,000 student responses from all 120 of Kentucky’s counties, our team created an executive summary of our findings.
(S)HE Matters: Peer-to-Peer Sexual Harassment in High School
A Qualitative Look at Sexual Harassment in High Schools
(S)HE Matters partnered with the Student Voice Team to release the Peer-to-Peer Sexual Harassment in High School Survey, which examined students’ experience with sexual harassment in school settings. Our team supported survey distribution on our social media with a “snowball” methodology, eventually garnering 1030 responses from 42 states. Of those responses, 834 were from Kentucky.
Students As Partners
Integrating student voice in the governing bodies of Kentucky schools

Drawing on a number of sucess stories across the state and nation, Students As Partners makes the definitive case for why student voice matters.
Student Voice Audit
Robert D. Campbell Junior High School
This report details KSVT's first School Climate Audit, a deep look into what works and what doesn't work in a school, especially pertaining to school climate. At Robert D. Clark Junior High in Clark County, we tested what is now central to our work and found that bullying, among other things, was a problem being overlooked by teachers and administrators.
Uncovering the Tripwires to Postsecondary Success
KSVT's first policy report focused on three main barriers to college transitions: the birthright lottery, veiled college costs, and college and career unreadiness. We pioneered a unique method that marries facts with student voices that deepens the understanding of what trips students up on the way to college and career.
